Shanghai International Dance Center

Shanghai International Dance Center, completed with Studios Architecture, is a dance campus developed from an international design competition. The project includes a 1,200-seat theater, 300 seat-recital hall, a dance school for 1,500 students, as well as the Shanghai Ballet and Dance Troupe's headquarters and rehearsal studios. The design proposal was selected from among six international architectural firms.
The spirit of dance inspires the architectural form of the new campus; the interplay between the gently curving elements is choreographed to create a sense of flow and kinetic energy.
